Smart phone, smart life

Today is peaceful, a nice break in our crazy routine. Our life has been jam packed lately, I mean stuffed to the brim with activity. Jacob's schedule is more busy than mine. He works full time, is president of the young men's organization in church, and is taking more than a full load at school. When he get's home he usually makes time to take Molly off my hands so I can have a break, or so I can cook dinner, or go running. So, even though he is busy he is still a great dad.

My time has been occupied with Molly, teaching tai chi four times a week, and being part of a stake play. Our church put on a play for the community about how the pioneers founded this area. I know, it sounds so exciting right? Well, now that its all said and done, I actually enjoyed it. Some of the characters in the play were based off of the Rogers family. I got excited when I realized that this history actually applies to me. While I was at practices and performances Jacob would watch Molly. Some of the time he couldn't because of school so she tagged along. Poor girl has been dragged to a lot of places lately. On the night of the last performance Jacob not only took care of Molly but he bought me a really fun smart phone. Now that I have my cool new phone I can keep our busy life organized with just the touch of a screen. I can keep in touch with everyone, and I can always be informed and entertained. These new phones really are amazing!

Party at the Browns!

This weekend Jacob, Molly, and I piled into my Saturn and drove the many miles up highway 89 to get to the Brown's house. Molly was a super good traveler. We got there late Thursday night and I was surprised to see snow. I was still wearing some plaid summer shorts from when I left.

Ever since Matt and Kamilla moved I've been itching to go up there. Jacob had a mission reunion so we used to opportunity to attend and visit the Brown's at the same time. We got to see Beckham, Lincoln, Kollette, and Atreyu and everyone got to see how Molly is growing. I can't believe we all have kids now!

We listened to General Conference with them and celebrated Easter. I noticed that many of the talks were directed to parents, especially mothers. I thought about how grateful I am for my mother who always set an example of gentle love and kindness. I also thought how happy I am to be a mother myself. Having little Molly in my life is a tremendous joy.

A Brand New Year

2010 is going to be our third year of marriage and I can't wait! It seems each year gets exponentially better. With Molly added into our lives we both couldn't be happier. She keeps us up at night but she also keeps us entertained all day. Who knew a little baby could be so interesting. She is 2 months old now. I am staying at home with her while Jacob works. He is still working at University of Phoenix.

We are both taking classes online and hate them passionately. Math holds no interest for me and Jacob's computer class is almost just as boring. When more interesting classes are on the schedule I'm sure we will have a better attitude.

We recently took a trip to Las Vegas to celebrate our 2nd anniversary and to go to a cousin's wedding. We stayed in the Luxor Hotel and got to see Chris Angel's magic show. Mom was kind enough to watch Molly for us.
We also took a trip to Utah and stayed with Ammon and Nicole. They took us to a Mexican food place that served borritos as big as a car. That's what the picture of Jacob is all about. We also got to see all the Kelson family at the big Christmas party. We loved being able to sit down together and reconnect with everyone.

Other then that we have been spending much of our free time with our family and friends. It seems there is always an endless stream of birthdays and gatherings to attend. Just last night my Dad barbecued more meat than all of us could eat.

The new year brings with it hope and a resolve to be better. One of my goals is to keep in touch with family and friends who are not close by. I think of all of you often. You may never know how blessed I feel to have you in my life!

Our New House!

August 1st was a momentous day for us. We finally got into our first home! The house is 1500 square feet with three bedrooms and an office. The living space is very open. I love decorating it and making it feel like home. Westley, my old dog, lives in the back yard. Calvin, our crazy Ferret spends most of the time hiding out under our bed. We are beginning to work on a nursery for our baby girl that is on the way. We would love to have any of you stop by any time!

Cousins

Cousins are the biggest bonus of life! They are as close as siblings but as fun as friends. I feel so blessed to have such a huge herd of them. I am starting this blog in honor of my cousins. Many of my cousins already have blogs. When I log on and get a little glimpse into their lives I am reminded of late nights and happy summer vacations when we did all of our catching up. With college and work I keep getting busier but that is no excuse to lose touch with my favorite people. To my cousins, and all my family and friends, I hope you have as much fun reading my blog as I have reading each of yours.
